Arabic Program

About our Arabic Program

The Growing Participator Approach, or GPA, for the Levantine dialect helps people entering a new culture to reach self-sustaining language growth in that community. This program is designed to imitate the way our mind was created to learn language. Every child learns their native language naturally first by listening and then speaking. Later on, reading and writing are mastered. With this language approach, we do not allow our classes to have over 7 students.

In Level 1 the students listen only. In Levels 2-3 they start speaking words and sentences, and in Level 4 the students begin telling simple stories and writing Arabic. Through levels 5-7 students continue producing simple stories and carry on simple conversations. In level 8, students learn to tell their life stories. By level 9-10, students can understand complex stories with familiar context. Advanced courses build both a person’s understanding and ability to tell detailed stories with abstract ideas.

About our Survival Arabic Program

This course is designed for those who wish to learn basic survival expressions and gain cultural insights as they adjust to life in Lebanon. It was first designed for military personnel who would only be stationed in Lebanon for 6 months. It is a great introduction to the most commonly used words and phrases.

About our Modern Standard Arabic Program

For students who want to learn formal Modern Standard Arabic, we offer private classes using the latest Al Kitaab fii Ta allum al-Arabiyya, a textbook for beginning Arabic with DVDs. After completing this book students should be able to read and write texts on familiar contexts, speak in the Modern Standard Arabic (Fuzha) about yourself and daily life topics, and understand all basic sentence structures in Arabic.
